Another dog attack on livestock in Oakhill
I regret to report that there has been another dog attack on sheep in Oakhill, resulting in the death of a fully grown (40kilo) lamb.
Dog owners should be aware that livestock owners have the right to shoot any animal found 'worrying' livestock: dog owners should keep their animals on a lead when using public footpaths on private land and not let them run loose, irrespective of whether or not there is livestock in the field.
This latest incident took place in the field behind Oakhill School, so is most likely a local dog that carried out the attack.
No one wants to shoot a dog but farmers have to protect their stock and their investment, both financially and emotional (lambing is quite stressful at the best of times).
Dog owners, please take note.
