Winter Walk in Harridge Woods - Sunday 20 January, 2013 10:00 - 12:30
Walk around Harridge Woods led by Adel Avery (Volunteer Warden) for wintering wildlife and a review of the work of the conservation volunteers. Please note that this event is not suitable for wheelchair users/limited mobility due to the difficult terrain. Adults £2.50; Children £1.00
Also monthly workdays for East Mendip Conservation Volunteers in Harridge Woods. First Sunday of the month, 10am to 1pm. All tools/safety equipment and hot drinks and biscuits provided. Note: feeding the Harridge Wood Troll is not encouraged
East Mendip Conservation Volunteers Winter Programme 2013
SUNDAY 6th JANUARY – HEDGELAYING at Edford Woods, & clearing cedar regeneration from Harridge East. Bring bowsaws/loppers, slashers, billhooks.
SUNDAY 3rd FEBRUARY – COPPICING WORK & clear up after any winter felling works.. Cutting tools/bowsaws & loppers, gloves/eye goggles...
SUNDAY 3rd MARCH – HEDGE PLANTING – HOME WOOD/LIMEKILN WOOD & possibly some footpath maintenance works. Bowsaws, loppers, spades, gloves.
SUNDAY 7th APRIL – FOOTPATH clearance/ or completion of brash piling from winter felling works in Limekiln Wood.
Meet at 10am, work until 1pm. Tea & Coffee provided & biscuits.
Wear old clothes, walking boots/wellies & work gloves/usually have spares. Waterproofs if wet, but if very wet, phone first as may cancel workday as unsafe to work in rain. Mobiles not always within reach of signal in woods.

All workdays meet at entrance to Harridge Woods at ST 648 484, in Nettlebridge, 1 mile from Oakhill, 4 miles from Shepton Mallet. From Oakhill onA367 Bath Road, turn right off main road on left bend between chevrons, as drop downhill into Nettlebridge valley.
